This Day Aria.-Queen of Changelings- This day is going to be perfect, the kind of day of which I've dreamed since I was small, everypony will gather round, say I look lovely in my gown, what they don't know is that I have fooled them all!
-Princess Cadence- This day was going to be perfect, the kind of day of which I've dreamed since I was small, but instead of having cake, with all my friends to celebrate, my wedding bells, they may not ring for me at all!
-Queen of Changelings- I could care less about the dress, I won't partake in any cake! Vows? Well, I'll be lying when I say, that through any kind of weather, I'll want us to be together, the truth is I don't care for him at all! No, I do not love the groom, in my heart, there is no room! But I still want him to be all mine!
-Princess Cadence- Must escape before it's too late, find a way to save the day! Hope? I'd be lying if I say, that I don't fear that I may lose him, to one who wants to use him, not care for him, love and cherish him each day

Well, that episode went by quickly, I found!

I can't say that all of my expectations were met, though.

Luna made an appearance, which was what I was hoping for. I knew that Cadence and Shining Armour were gonna make a reappearance in the season premiere. I love them, and hope to see them again in future episodes. For a second, though, I thought Shining Armour was going to end up being controlled by King Sombra with those black crystals on his horn.

This King Sombra guy can be compared to Sauron of The Lord Of The Rings. That scene where he first appeared underneath all of the ponies in chains certainly evokes that for me. I've also recognized the Six Million Dollar Man sound effect when the fake crystal heart was flying through the air. That final scene where King Sombra just "explodes" is very reminiscent of what happened in The Matrix when Neo entered into Agent Smith and caused him to explode in a flash of light.

My only dissapointment was not seeing King Sombra in a direct confrontation with the Mane 6, which was what I was hoping for.

Overall, the story was good, but not GREAT. Not like the season 2 finale. THAT was epic!

I'm not gonna stop watching the show, though; and I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of King Sombra.

BTW, Rainbow Dash should've chosen a better jousting partner than Fluttershy. That crystal pony male she was taunting, for instance.

Hmm... mixed feelings about this opener. Didn't like it as much as the previous ones; the villian was pretty undeveloped, and I found it really weird that Celestia would send Twilight off with an order that could've well ended the world. If I had been in Twilight's shoes, I would've assumed that Celestia knew better than myself and thus had a REASON for telling only her to deliver the heart--something crazy like if anyone else touches it it'll be destroyed and the whole venture will fail, something like that. I imagine Twilight was more concerned about something like that then simply about whether or not she'd pass the test, but eh. ;A;

I also feel like there was a lot of stuff that went unexplained here. Luna's odd looks and the weird book I can forgive, as I imagine they'll be explained in future, but--unless I totally blanked, was it ever even mentioned that Cadence was deeply connected to the crystal kingdom? I don't think it was, or if it was, it wasn't mentioned in detail. I think that should've been explained more in the episode. Bleh. D:

So yah, wasn't super impressed by this one >____< here's hoping the rest of the episodes are full of epic!
